Call for Participation
ICSA2022 gathers research and practical developments on the synergetic potential of architecture and structural engineering in an international, serious, and open environment bringing together researchers, practitioners and students. The Call for Participation is for contributions in three categories: Research Papers, Critical Practices, and Associated Events.
The Conference Proceedings will be published at the conference by CRC Press / Balkema (Taylor & Francis Group), including a book of extended two-page abstracts of all Research Papers, Critical Practice Reflections, and a USB flash card containing the full eight-page Research Papers. These documents are reviewed by at least two members of the conference scientific committee. Proceedings will be sent for indexation by both Thomson Reuters and Elsevier. All the papers published in the proceedings of the four previous ICSA conferences have been indexed by Elsevier's SCOPUS. ICSA2022 proceedings will also be indexed by Elsevier's SCOPUS.
SPECIAL JOURNAL ISSUE
A special issue of the new journal 'Architecture, Structures and Construction' will be published at ICSA2022 together with the proceedings. The special journal issue will contain selected papers submitted for the conference. These papers will be selected prior to the conference and will undergo the journal's peer-review process, hence, authors of selected papers will be asked to revise their papers according to the journal's submission criteria. Papers selected for this special journal issue will not be published in the proceedings, but they will be added to the conference program for oral presentation.
We are grateful that Springer is sponsoring a series of awards at ICSA2022:
- Best Paper Award of the ICSA2022 conference. The winner would get a certificate, a year free online access to both supporting journals and a book voucher for springer.com for the amount of 150 euros.
- Best Paper Award for each mini-symposium. The winner would get a certificate, a year free online access to both supporting journals and a book voucher for springer.com for the amount of 100 euros.
- Young Researcher Award. The winner would get a certificate, a year free online access to both supporting journals and a book voucher for springer.com for the amount of 100 euros.
- Best Critical Practice Award. The winner would get a certificate, a year free online access to both supporting journals and a book voucher for springer.com for the amount of 100 euros.

Urban Structures & Architecture
The call for Critical Practices is a new experimental contribution format, intended to bridge research in academia and research in practice through a combined submission of a physical Critical Practice Prototype and a short written Critical Practice Reflection. Hence, the call is for for demonstration of progress into the practice of the synergy of structures and architecture across the architectural scales ranging from details in façade systems, over innovations in spatial gestures and structural configurations of building typologies, to explorations of novel principles for viable urban infrastructures etc.
The presentation format at the conference will be a chaired session in the prototype-exhibition where authors present their prototypes followed by a panel discussion and award ceremony. During the panel discussion a ‘Best Critical Practice’ award will be presented and further perspectives for bridging research in academia and research in practice will be discussed.

The conference invites associated events such as workshops, debates, and exhibitions. Each proposal should have a focused topic related to ’Structures & Architecture – in a viable urban perspective’. Please contact us to discuss your ideas!: firstname.lastname@example.org
